Welcome to
Gary's
Backpacking Page
I try to get a
little backpacking done each summer and thought this would be an easy way to
share some photos of the places I have been to with all my friends. Below
is a list of the places I have visited in 2003. Hope you enjoy them.

Stephens Lake
There
is both an upper and a lower Stephens lake. We camped at the Upper Lake.
It is a little smaller than the Lower Lake, but has a better view of the
mountains and the snow. There was still snow on the top of the mountain
and the view from there was phenomenal. When I hiked up there, I ran into
a young couple and their little daughter who were also camping at the lake and
I took their picture. This was a hard climb into these lakes...or else I
am just getting older. Probably both !!
Upper
Priest Falls

Upper Priest
Falls feeds the Upper and Lower Priest lake. The main trail
to the falls is roughly17 miles round trip. It travels
through one of the best lowland hiking trails in Idaho. This
virgin red cedar forest is spectacular and the trees are huge to
say the least. We camped about half way to the falls, hiking
to the falls the next day. The water at the falls was
so cold you couldn't keep your feet in for more than 10 seconds at
a time. But boy was it refreshing !!! Hope you enjoy
the pictures.
Revitt Lake
Revitt Lake is a
short 4 mile round trip located at the top of Thompson Pass, which
is on the Montana-Idaho border. This is a very short, easy
hike into a beautiful lake. I spent a couple of nights there
and was even visited one night by a mountain goat making his way
down for his evening drink. I was also visited overhead by a
big airplane fire fighter tanker as it made a circle heading
back to a fire that it was fighting more towards the south.
I took a few good flower pictures and lake shots. Enjoy |
