Howard
Hughes was
born
and lived the first 17 years of his life in Lewistown, Montana.
As a youngster he spent hours alone outdoors, exploring the prairie and
hills around the small town and fishing Spring Creek, which originates at a
natural spring just outside the town and supplies its water to this day.
The early and indelible impressions etched in his memory are reflected in
many of his watercolor paintings; he states, “That which an artist has lived,
eaten, and breathed–has become a part of him–is what he paints, at least in my
case.”

Mr. Hughes has worked as a
licensed clinical social worker, in various capacities, for over 25 years.
His paintings hang in diverse locations, including the Washington Trust
Financial Center; Temple Beth Shalom Library, and Twenty-Ninth Avenue Art Works,
Spokane, Washington, in addition to numerous private residences throughout Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington,
and Montana.
For your convenience, we have divided his paintings into 7 categories:
Old Houses,
Landscapes,
Waterscapes,
Boats,
Old Vehicles,
Winter
Scenes and
Churches.
